This story is what I like to call a "Slender Epic": though it seems contradictory, I believe that the story contains all of the features of an Epic (a fantastic, "bigger than life" adventure), with the exception being its length.
It is written in the style of a poem, told in two chapters (books).
The first half of Book II is the same as the first half of Book I, except for each line in the former has a certain letter removed from its corresponding line in the latter. Similarly, in the second halves of Books I and II, the roles switch. The choice of letter to be removed is alphabetical: The first lines, a, the second lines, b, and so on to the twenty-sixth lines with z. From there, the letter order reverses: The twenty-seventh lines, z, the twenty-eighth, y, and on to the fifty-second lines with a.
