Water Awake was written feverishly on a typewriter in my bed. I felt the words come out forceful and physical and with skin and was the first time I surprised myself with my writing; with each word, new ones came forward like rows of shark teeth, and I didn't recognize them (though I recognized them as my own). Water Awake was presented at National Undergraduate Conference on Literature (NUCL) in Portland in 2011 and parts of have published in SMALLS a now defunct online literary magazine.
